DAP-K throws Savula under the bus, party maintains they only recognize Fernandes Barasa as Kakamega Governor

Savula claims that he is a co-governor and that he has equal power   with Barasa

By Seliphar Musungu

The Democratic Alliance Party of Kenya (DAP-K) has disowned Kakamega Deputy Governor Elect Ayub Savula over his assertions that he is a co- governor with Fernandes Barasa.

“As a coalition partner, we shall support Fernandes Barasa to deliver to Kakamega County people on his promises pegged on ‘Maendeleo na Usawa’ devoid of sideshows and blackmails. We have an agreement to deliver devolution fruits to the people after the swearing in on Thursday,” read a Tweet by DAP-K

Savula claimed that Kakamega County government will be divided into a 50/50 share between him and the Governor Elect.

“Do not be fooled by anyone that I am a deputy governor, no. The county has been divided into two and Barasa will take half of the government and the other half will be managed by me,” said Savula

The former Lugari MP further said that they will share 50/50 ministries for the positions of County Executive Committee members (CECMs) and Chief Officers as well as heads of departments.

But DAP-K party where Savula is the deputy party leader has distanced itself from his claims and maintained that they only recognize Fernandes Barasa as Kakamega governor.

Savula also claimed that he was forced to support Azimio la Umoja following his arrest. He said he will support William Ruto in his presidency contrary to outgoing Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya sentiments that they form a strong opposition outfit to put Kenya Kwanza government on checks and balance.
