Kenya Kwanza MPs assure Kenyans of stable economy, slam Gachagua’s tribal politics

By Kelvin Sang, Eldoret

A section of Kenya Kwanza MPs have assured Kenyans of a stable economy and a forward-looking government, distancing themselves from divisive politics linked to impeach Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

The MPs made the remarks during a well-attended fundraiser in Moiben Constituency, Uasin Gishu County.

Leading the charge was Mwengi Mutuse, MP for Kibwezi North, who took a bold swipe at Gachagua, accusing him of perpetuating regressive and tribal politics. “We must reject politics that divide the people of Kenya,” said Mutuse.

He praised Parliament for placing national interests above personal loyalties by impeaching the deputy president, whom he described as unfit to lead a united nation.

Mutuse also hit out at Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka for his recent criticism of the IEBC selection panel, terming it as “bad politics.” He assured Kenyans that the panel would be constituted strictly according to the Constitution.

Kesses MP Julius Ruto echoed similar sentiments, strongly defending President William Ruto’s administration.

He criticized former Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi for allegedly breaching his oath of office by disclosing cabinet matters and undermining the president. “Muturi chose his path when he disrespected the head of state,” Ruto remarked, warning public officials against disloyalty.

Keiyo North MP Adams Kipsanai, Moiben MP Philis Bartoo, and Kitutu Chache MP Japheth Nyakundi also pledged their unwavering support for President Ruto, stating that his government remains committed to economic growth, peace, and national unity.

Representing the Office of the President, Faruk Kibet, a key aide to President Ruto, urged citizens to rise above tribal lines and focus on unity and development.

We are a united country. Anyone promoting tribalism is an enemy of the nation,” he declared. Kibet emphasized that the president’s top priority is fostering a peaceful and conducive environment for growth.

Education Principal Secretary Julius Bitok, who also attended the event, promised reforms in the education sector, particularly addressing challenges within the CBC curriculum. “We believe in the competency-based curriculum, and we are working to ensure it benefits all learners by resolving existing implementation issues,” Bitok said.
