Nurses in Busia County seeking opportunities to work in the United States have received crucial guidance through a specialised training session aimed at preparing them for the international job market.
The event, organised by Kenyan Nurse Consultants (KNC), brought together healthcare professionals eager to explore global career prospects.
The training, held in Busia at farmview hotel, is part of KNC’s broader initiative to empower Kenyan nurses with the necessary knowledge and support to transition into international healthcare systems.
Addressing the media on Saturday, the organisation representative Justice Justus said they have already conducted similar sessions in six counties across Western Kenya, with plans to expand across Africa.
The representative of Kenyan Nurse Consultants, emphasised that their mission extends beyond Kenya, with aspirations to penetrate the entire African market and create more opportunities for nurses across the continent.
“We have already visited six counties in Western Kenya, and we are looking to expand across Africa. There are thousands of highly skilled but underutilised nurses in the region, and we want to connect them with global opportunities. The demand for nurses in the US and other countries is huge, and we are here to help them navigate the process,” Justus explained.

Apart from training,he said that KNC also assists with job placements, helping nurses connect with reputable employers abroad.
“The initiative has been instrumental in bridging the gap between Kenyan healthcare professionals and international employment opportunities,”he said.
Justus added that the training covered critical areas, including credential verification, licensing exams, visa processes, and job placement in reputable US healthcare facilities.
“Our goal is to make the transition smoother for Kenyan nurses by providing step-by-step support.
He urged more nurses to take advantage of the available resources, register for training, and equip themselves with the necessary skills to succeed on the global stage.
Among those in attendance was Roseline Tiema, a registered nurse at Wakhungu Dispensary, who said she discovered the program through Facebook.
“The process isn’t as complicated as I thought. As a nurse, it’s important to explore various opportunities, and this program provides all the guidance needed. I am eager to advance my career through this organisation,” Tiema said.
Renny Magero, a nurse at Bwingi Dispensary in Samia, also expressed her enthusiasm about the initiative, stating that it had given her the confidence to pursue her long-time dream of working abroad.
“I heard about the Kenyan Nurse Consultants through a friend, and the training has clarified so much for me. Working in the US has always been my goal, and now that I have the right guidance, I feel ready to take the next step. This is an opportunity for many qualified nurses seeking better prospects,” she shared.
