According to Jackson Mulika Mavendi, one of the executives of the CBO, Tuinuane Kenya which began in 2012 has up to now constructed over 1000 houses to the vulnerable. It has also paid university fees to over 860 students and more than 1100 secondary school students.

The organization has also been at the forefront of initiating several fund drives to help raise hospital bills for members and catering for funeral expenses of affected members.

The main source of funding for the CBO is through member’s contributions and harambee.

Apart from the societal developments projects and initiatives, the CBO has also navigated through rough waters of advocacy, community empowerment and education.

According to Jackson Mulika, it’s a high time both the central government and devolved units partner with or support CBOs in realizing community growth.

He however says merging of CBOs is key in achievement of common agenda and called upon CBOs operating on small scale to consider joining Tuinuane Kenya CBO.

Mr Mulika was talking during a fund drive aimed at raising funds for the construction of a house of mama   organized by Tuinuane Kenya CBO in Shikhambi in the outskirts of Kakamega town. The fund drive raised Sh76,400.
