“If you want change to happen as you desire, you must participate in politics at all levels, either through mobilization or by seeking elective positions,” said Mr Ochieng
Ochieng pointed out that, as demonstrated during the recent Gen-Z movement demonstrations, young people can be a powerful force if well organized and determined in pursuing their goals.

The evening ceremony, hosted by the students’ body congress speaker, saw dozens of students honored for excellence in various fields, including academics, student leadership, sports, the arts, business enterprise, fashion, music, social media influence, dance, and community service.
The event, filled with pomp, color, and fanfare, was attended by over 4,000 students and presided over by the students’ congress speaker, Tobias Oyare.
The youthful Ugenya MP, who is serving his third term and was first elected to Parliament at 31, advised the youth not to be discouraged from engaging in politics by the negative publicity surrounding politicians.
He stressed that politics should be at the heart of organizing and transforming society, urging young people to embrace it as part of the effort to build a better society.
Ochieng encouraged the students to pursue their dreams with hard work and determination to achieve the success they desire in life.
Oyare, the students’ congress speaker, stated that young people are determined to be a transformative force within Kenyan society.
He noted that, as seen in the high standards and quality displayed at the KUSA Awards, young people possess the skills, drive, and energy to make a positive impact on society.
