Farmers in Bungoma County have been urged to adopt organic farming practices to restore soil fertility, boost yields, and produce healthier food.
Speaking at Mabanga Agricultural Training Centre during the Bungoma County Agricultural Field Day, Everlyne Achieng Onyango, chief executive officer of Green World International (NutriPlant Organic Fertilizer), said it was every farmer’s responsibility to engage in sustainable agriculture that improves livelihoods and safeguards the environment.
“This has been a wonderful field day. We have had the opportunity to train farmers on the effects of using chemicals on their farms. NutriPlant Organic Fertilizer is free from harmful chemicals, helps neutralize soil acidity, balances pH, and protects the soil from pests,” she said.
Everlyne noted that organic farming enables crops to thrive even during drought and that NutriPlant Organic Fertilizer, which contains 16 essential minerals and high concentrations of amino acids, promotes faster germination, stronger root and stem development, and higher yields up to 80% with seed strength reaching 70%.
Demonstration plots at the event, featuring sukuma wiki and capsicum, showed impressive growth despite a month without rainfall. She added that the fertilizer is drought-resistant, allowing farmers to plant any crop year-round while reducing production costs.
“Our central message is simple: adopt organic farming and make use of NutriPlant Organic Fertilizer to improve crop health and productivity,” she said.
