Kakamega High School is in mourning following the sudden and tragic death of a Form Three student, David Owuor, who collapsed and died while playing football on the school grounds on Saturday.
According to the school Principal Julius Mambili, the incident occurred at around 12:05PM as the student was playing football with his friends on the school pitch.
“He had already scored two goals and was attempting a third when he suddenly fell and collapsed,” said Mr Mambili. “He was immediately rushed to the school dispensary before we arranged for his transfer to the Kakamega County Teaching and Referral Hospital. Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead at 12:30PM.”
Mr Mambili noted that the had no known underlying health conditions and described him as an energetic and cheerful student who had not shown any signs of illness.
“He was very okay and full of life. This is a tragic loss not just for the school, but for the entire community,” he said. “Owuor was a bright student, well-loved by his peers and teachers alike. He had a promising future ahead of him.”
“As a school and a community, we are heartbroken,” Mr. Mambili added. “We extend our deepest condolences to David’s parents, family, and friends during this difficult time.”
