Governor Barasa rolls out plan to solidify ODM party ahead of 2027 polls

By Daniel Otieno, Kakamega

Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa has rolled out an ambitious to solidify ODM party in the county ahead of the 2027 polls.

Barasa is pushing to vanquish other renegade political parties in the county like Ford Kenya, DAP-K, ANC, UDA and KANU among others that gave them a run for their money in the last polls.

He has now embarked on a mission to open up new ODM party offices across the 12 sub counties in order to get new party members and ensure those who had ditched the party come back to the fold.

Already, the governor has opened the first sub county office at Shianda market in Mumias East constituency.

“We have started a journey of awakening ODM party in the entire county. We have opened a fully equipped office today in Mumias East and paid a 6 months’ rent. We have employed two people to operate the office,” said Barasa

He went on: “The residents are requested to visit the office any time of the day to register freely as members and also raise any complain concerning the party. However, registration as party member can also be done through an official USSD code *493*036#,”

He said that “this new office is expected to uphold transparency, accountability, integrity and to recruit more members in every polling station to ensure all elective offices from MCAs to presidency are won by ODM aspirants,”

The governor further supported the formation of the broad based government stating that the county assembly has embraced the same method as fostered by the ‘soft handshake’ between Raila Odinga and William Ruto. This, he assured that will enhance smooth operation of county activities.
