Busia Woman Representative Catherine Omanyo has applauded President William Ruto for appointing Dr Bonface Makokha as the Principal Secretary for Economic Planning and Treasury.
In a statement, Omanyo congratulated the newly sworn-in PS, noting that his appointment signals hope for stronger economic strategies in the country.
“I warmly congratulate Dr. Bonface Makokha, Principal Secretary for Economic Planning and Treasury, on his swearing-in today. His expertise brings hope for strengthened economic strategies for our country,” she said.
Dr. Makokha is the second Principal Secretary from Busia County in President Ruto’s administration. The other is Susan Mangeni, PS for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

Also holding a senior government role from the region is Mr. Arthur Amug Osiya, who serves as the Principal Administrative Secretary in the Executive Office of the President.
Born and raised in Siera Village, Lupida Sub-location, Bukhayo North/Walatsi Ward in Nambale Sub-county, Dr. Makokha’s journey is one of dedication and service. He attended Lupida Primary School, where he studied under headteacher Andrew Okoiti. Notably, Gardy Jakaa, now the area MCA, was his childhood classmate.
Dr. Makokha holds a Bachelor’s degree in Education (Science) and a Master’s degree in Physics, among other qualifications. His career spans teaching physics and chemistry at Kolanya Girls National School, lecturing at Daystar University, and serving in senior roles in both regional and international organisations.
