The Smile Suite Dental Centre in Kakamega has introduced a state of-the art dental X-ray section, becoming the second facility in the region to offer such advanced diagnostic capabilities.

This new addition, installed at the clinic that is located on the Fourth Floor of the Mega Mall (Quickmart Supermarket), promises to provide faster and more precise diagnoses, significantly enhancing diagnosis and treatment of patients.

The clinic’s upgraded X-ray machine will offer a wide range of imaging services, including OPG (Orthopantomogram), segmented OPG, TMJ (Temporomandibular Joint) views, bite wings, IOPA (Intra-Oral Periapical X-ray), panoramic sinus, and occlusal views.

The advanced technology is expected to help detect dental issues that may not be visible during regular examinations, aiding in the detection of cysts, tumors, infections, and other dental issues.

“An OPG X-ray gives a broad view of the teeth, jaws, and surrounding structures, helping identify problems like impacted teeth, tumors, and bone infections. This is essential for planning complex treatments such as tooth extractions and implants,” explained Dr. Scarlet Muhadia, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of The Smile Suite Dental Centre.

In addition to the OPG, the clinic now offers segmented OPGs for more focused imaging, TMJ views to detect joint dysfunction, bite wings to monitor cavities and bone health, and panoramic sinus X-rays to assess the impact of sinuses on dental health. These advancements are crucial in ensuring accurate diagnoses and developing effective treatment plans.

“By having access to these advanced imaging tools, we can offer quicker, more precise diagnoses and provide patients with tailored treatment plans that can significantly improve their dental health outcomes,” Dr. Muhadia added.

Located within the heart of Kakamega town, The Smile Suite Dental Centre, which has been operational for just over a year, continues to grow and evolve, now offering a comprehensive range of services from routine teeth cleaning and fillings to specialized care like dental implants, braces, and minor oral surgeries.

One of the clinic’s main goals is to provide high-quality, affordable care, and Dr. Muhadia has ensured that the center offers flexible payment options, including insurance coverage and personalized payment plans.

“We aim to become a multi-specialty dental center known for clinical excellence and cutting-edge technology. We will continue to grow and improve, striving to offer the highest standard of care to the people of Kakamega and the wider western region,” ~ Dr Muhadia

While the technological upgrade will significantly enhance the clinic’s diagnostic capabilities, Dr. Muhadia is also committed to educating the local community about dental health. She pointed out that many residents still believe that tooth extraction is the only solution to dental issues, unaware of more preventive and restorative treatments available.

“We are passionate about educating our community on the importance of oral hygiene,” said Dr. Muhadia. “Dental problems are often preventable with proper care. We encourage people to focus on prevention before issues become more severe.”

As part of its mission to provide the best possible dental care, the clinic continues to emphasize preventive measures, such as regular cleanings and proper brushing techniques. Dr. Muhadia also highlighted the rising trend of dental problems in the region, largely due to dietary habits such as increased consumption of processed foods and sugary drinks.

The Smile Suite Dental Centre also offers a variety of cosmetic dental services, including braces, teeth whitening, dental implants, and even dental jewelry like gold crowns and gems.

Dr. Muhadia’s vision for the clinic is clear: “We aim to become a multi-specialty dental center known for clinical excellence and cutting-edge technology. We will continue to grow and improve, striving to offer the highest standard of care to the people of Kakamega and the wider western region.”

A Kakamega native…”Big dreams, big big God… for a small girl.”… Dr. Muhadia, born 30 years ago in Kakamega, serves as a shining example of ambition and dedication. After earning her degree in dental surgery from the University of Nairobi (UoN), she returned home to provide top-tier care to her community.

She is currently pursuing an MBA in Healthcare Management from Strathmore University to further enhance her ability to serve her patients.

The Smile Suite Dental Centre is staffed by a team of skilled professionals, including two resident dentists and visiting specialists, ensuring that patients have access to the most comprehensive care possible.

Dr. Muhadia concluded, “We are not just treating teeth; we are improving lives. Dental health is key to overall well-being, and we are here to make sure that everyone has access to the best care available.”
