Chebet crossed the finish line with an impressive time of 32 minutes and 43 seconds, marking her first win of the year as she sets her sights on major competitions, including the 2026 World Olympics in Italy.
Held in Eldoret, Kenya, the ABSA Sirikwa Classic is a prestigious World Athletics Gold Label event that attracts top international athletes, providing them an opportunity to test their skills and stamina ahead of global championships.
Chebet’s win at this significant event not only boosts her confidence but also positions her as one of Kenya’s brightest long-distance running prospects.
The 23-year-old athlete, known for her versatility in both the 10km road race and the half marathon, has steadily risen in the global athletics scene.
Chebet gained international recognition in 2023 when she secured a silver medal at the World Athletics Cross Country Championships and recorded a personal best of 30:23 in the 10km road race later that year.
