Barasa to face action for failure to respond to NEC directives

By Daniel Otieno,Kakamega

Senator Godfrey Osotsi Orange Democratic Movement [ODM] deputy party leader has warned Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa to focus on pursuing critical directives given to him two weeks ago when he together with Kakamega County Assembly speaker James Namatsi and majority leader Philip Maina appeared before ODM National Executive Committee[NEC] committee in Mombasa.

“Central Management Committee gave directives on issues to do with ODM party in Kakamega. The committee took action through the National Executive Committee that gave a two week probation to the governor, county speaker and leader of majority.”

The senator maintained that the affected individuals has not adhered to the committees’ demand. “None of them has responded to the directives through the party secretariat,” said Osotsi adding, “One directive requires the governor Barasa to desist from public exchange portraying disrespect to national leadership including women representative, members of parliament and all political figures in Western region and focus on uniting leaders from grassroots level.”

The committee also looks forward to withdrawal of all court cases filed against the party in Kakamega County.

The senator said, Barasa in conjunction with the county leadership is expected to reinstate Members of County Assembly to their various committees.

Osotsi said, the party is ready to take action against anyone who by any chance will try to propagate disunity in Kakamega regardless of position in political space.

However, he noted that the leaders are free to open party offices anywhere in the county to buster the strength of ODM ahead of elections.
