Likuyani MP Innocent Mugabe has donated three buses to three secondary schools in the constituency.
The three brand new 51seater busses were handed over to St Jude Seregeya, Mapera and Saisi Wabuge Secondary Schools respectively.
Mugabe said all the busses were fully funded by Likuyani National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF). Each bus is expected to facilitate student transportation, ensuring that more learners can attend school regularly and participate in extracurricular activities.
During the handover ceremony, Mugabe emphasized the importance of investing in education, stating, “These buses are not just vehicles; they are pathways to opportunities for our youth. We must ensure that every student has the chance to succeed,”
“This is just the beginning. We will continue to explore ways to support our schools and ensure that no student is left behind,” said Mugabe, adding, “Education is the foundation of a prosperous society. By enhancing our school transport system, we are reinforcing our belief that every child deserves a chance to learn and grow,”
He said that “Today, we are investing in our future. These students are the leaders of tomorrow, and it is our duty to provide them with the tools they need to succeed.”
The first time lawmaker also urged National Treasury through the Ministry of Education to allocate more funds to public primary and secondary schools, which he said is essential for improving educational infrastructure, providing adequate learning materials, and enhancing teachers’ welfare.
The call for funding comes amid concerns about the quality of education and the need to address disparities in access and resources across different regions.
The lawmaker emphasize that investing in education is crucial for the country’s long-term development and economic growth.
He was accompanied by his wife Rose Mugabe who distributed sanitary towels to Mapera Secondary school girls to promote good menstrual hygiene.
