Gachagua tells Luhyas to ditch Raila and join Ruto’s government

By Aggrey Barasa, Bungoma

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has asked Luhyas to ditch Azimio leader Raila Odinga and join President William Ruto’s government.

Gachagua wants the community to embrace unity of purpose and rally behind the Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi and Speaker Moses Wetang’ula as the region’s political kingpins as opposed to supporting outsiders.

The deputy president challenged the community to stop allowing ‘their region’ to be used as a ground for political expedience every electioneering period.

“Why do you want Western Kenya to be the center of experiments? You have tried following Raila for years and the result is the same. In 2027, support the government of the day and you will never regret,” said Gachagua

“God has blessed you. You have good soil, good rains, and hardworking people. All you need is to fix your politics,” he added, saying ‘to fix your politics, you need to unite behind your two leaders (Mudavadi and Wetang’ula).

He urged lawmakers from Western affiliated to Raila led Azimio la Umoja coalition to shift their allegiance to President Ruto and work together with the government of the day to ensure they deliver their mandates.

The deputy president’s sentiments came barely a day after the embattled Kakamega governor emeritus Wycliffe Oparanya claimed that Kenya Kwanza regime was frustrating him and fixing him to instill fear in him and win him to their side.

“Kenya Kwanza wants me to join the government and abandon the opposition. Ruto has Mudavadi and Wetang’ula. Let him stick to them and leave me alone.” The former county boss said while addressing a crowd in Vihiga county.

“No amount of intimidation will make me abandon my loyalty to Raila ,” he said
