Jubilee party Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni has announced a tree planting event set to take place on April 15 at Uhuru Kenyatta’s family farm in Kiambu County.
Mr kioni said that their supporters will donate sheep and goats to Kenyatta family as a sign of solidarity to the former president.
“You will be surprised by the number of people who are willing to come with goats and sheep, not that they can replace the 1000 animals that were slaughtered, but just to let people know that is not how things are done,” he said
“We have very many people who have been asking whether they can have an opportunity to go and not just the issue of planting trees, Uhuru is not relying on the one or two seedlings we are going to plant, “he added.
This is after the farm was on March 27 invaded by goons who gained access via Kamakis side and stole a large number of sheep, cut trees and afterwards set it ablaze.
According to Kioni, the intruders were sent by a section of Kenya Kwanza leaders with National Assembly Majority leader Kimani Ichungwah being one of the suspects.
Mr. Ichungwah had on March 18 uttered threatening words directed to Uhuru during his visit to Kianyanga High School where he had accompanied Rigathi Gachagua.
“Even those big lands we will invade and those without land will be settled. Don’t think only the ordinary Kenyans will lose their property. Even you will pay a price if you continue to instigate violence and bloodshed in this country. That is my message to Mr. Uhuru Kenyatta , the sponsor of Azimio la Umoja Kenya One Coalition Party mercenary Raila Odinga,” he said.
However it is not clear if Mr. Ichungwah was involved as he denied the accusations saying he was innocent.
“I do not know anything about the invasion of the Kenyatta’s land. I first saw on social media the reports claiming unknown people had invaded the former president’s farm,” he said.
