The united Democratic Alliance (UDA)  Secretary General Cleophas Malala has announced that six parties have joined UDA. Speaking in a newsroom on Tuesday, Malala stated that the six are now part of the UDA family when and will actively participate in party’s activities.

The parties are led by chama Cha Kazi (CCK), well known to be chaired by Trade Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria and Chama Cha Mashinani (CCM) headed by Isaac Ruto.

Others are Umoja na Maendeleo party led by former Embu governor Martin Wambora, National Agenda Party of Kenya (Alfayo Agufana), Farmers Party (Irungu Nyakera) and Economic Freedom Party ( Issack Hassan Abey).

Mala congratulated party leaders that have already joined UDA sting that they have made the best decision. “My brother you will not regret this bold decision.”

Shortly after the General Elections, Moses Kuria announced his move to dissolve his Party CCK in October 2022, stating that he had already notified the office of the registrar of the political party.

This comes after Malala emphasized the need to dissolve other parties within the Kenya Kwanza coalition and join UDA.

However the move was not welcomed by some affiliated members of UDA stating that they will not give in to threats trying to force them join UDA.

Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetangula dismissed Cleophas Malala’s call to dissolve affiliate parties and merge with UDA.

Speaking during a church harambe in Kakamega, Wetangula argued that “Kenyans are democratic and that voters should be left to make political choices to ensure the country runs well.”

Earlier, officials from the Amani National Congress (ANC) party also dismissed calls to merge with UDA.

“We are not going to fold our party. If anything, we are planning to rejuvenate and strengthen our party from grassroots levels. ANC will remain vibrant,” its party leader Issa Timamy said.
