Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) will field nominated MCA Joel Okwako as Navakholo parliamentary aspirant in 2027.

“I am appealing to you the people of Butsotso to take good care of my son Okwako. We want him to be your MP and you must protect him until 2027 when we will give him our blessings as elders to go into elective politics,” said Wamalwa.

DAP-K patron Eugene Wamalwa said that Mr Okwako was the right candidate to replace the current legislator Emmanuel Wangwe who is serving his third term.

“We cannot keep on recycling leaders who are not development oriented. Time has come to inject fresh leadership in Navakholo constituency. We will use all available means to ensure Mr Okwako is the next MP for Navakholo in 2027,” said Wamalwa

Wamalwa was speaking during the homecoming of the nominated MCA. The event was also graced by Mumias East MP Peter Salasya and his Bumula counterpart Jack Wamboka, Vihiga Deputy Governor Wilberforce Kitiezo and a host of MCAs from Kakamega County Assembly.

“I am appealing to you the people of Butsotso to take good care of my son Okwako. We want him to be your MP and you must protect him until 2027 when we will give him our blessings as elders to go into elective politics,” said Wamalwa.

He added: “Its God who appoints leaders and is the one who led us to nominated Okwako as an MCA. The church has prayed and anointed him as your king and what’s remaining is to confirm this prophecy at the ballot come 2027,”

The former Defense Cabinet Secretary said that through Okwako’s efforts, working with other youths who embraced the party, they managed to get many votes from Kakamega County.

“Kakamega people you gave many votes and seats and you enabled us to nominate many MCAs among them Joel Okwako. DAP-K is a young party in Kenya but those who embraced it are the youth and we will shake the region in the next elections,” said Wamalwa

“I will hold Okwako’s hand and help him realize his dreams of becoming next Navakholo MP. If the party saw it fit to be nominated as an MCA after doing a commendable job, there’s nothing will also prevent him from becoming an MP given that he is a go getter,” said Kitiezo

Wamalwa asked Okwako and other Azimio la Umoja elected leaders to work with the current government in a bid to ensure they ring development at the doorsteps of the electorates.

“Election is over and it’s a time you work with the Governor Fernandes Barasa so that we can see development realized. We have also told our elected leaders that though we are in opposition, we should work with the current government of William Ruto and ensure the region also benefits from development projects,”

Mr Kitiezo, Vihiga Deputy Governor said that he was an MCA and now a deputy governor, adding that there’s nothing that can stop Okwako from ascending to the MP seat by sending Mr Wangwe on early retirement.

“I will hold Okwako’s hand and help him realize his dreams of becoming next Navakholo MP. If the party saw it fit to be nominated as an MCA after doing a commendable job, there’s nothing will also prevent him from becoming an MP given that he is a go getter,” said Kitiezo

On his part, Okwako said he was ready to go for the MP seat come 2027.

Former Lurambi MP Raphael Otaalo also said that Okwako fits the bill to become Navakholo MP in 2027.
