John Pesa: Ignore rumours that I have stepped down, I am still on the race destined for victory

Pesa who served as Suna East MP from 2007 to 2013 is facing Migori Senator Ochillo Ayacko(ODM) and former Cabinet Minister Dalmas Otieno (Jubilee) with the three of them running under the Azimio La Umoja Coalition.

Migori Governorship DAP-K Governorship Candidate John Pesa has assured County residents that he is firmly in the race contrary to some rumours that he had stepped down from the race.

Pesa who served as Suna East MP from 2007 to 2013 is facing Migori Senator Ochillo Ayacko(ODM) and former Cabinet Minister Dalmas Otieno (Jubilee) with the three of them running under the Azimio La Umoja Coalition.

The former Suna East MP said that some of his rivals who had sensed defeat had decided to spread the rumours so as to derail him from his quest to succeed Migori Governor Okoth Obado who will be completing his second and final term in office after the general election.

Pesa who is popularly known as Mwalimu by his supporters has been combing the villages and local markets in town hall-style meetings that has seen him well placed to stage a possible upset in the Tuesday vote to the surprise of his competitors who have been forced to the drawing board.

“My opponents have found out that I am the candidate to beat in the Migori Governorship contest that is why they are sponsoring rumours to the effect that I have stepped down, how can I do that yet I am the leading candidate in this race,” wondered Pesa.

 The former MP asked his worthy competitors to prepare for a grueling contest since he has been campaigning for the last five years and that instead of peddling rumours they should sell their agenda for the people if they get elected to office instead of dwelling on him.

Pesa who is popularly known as Mwalimu by his supporters has been combing the villages and local markets in town hall-style meetings that has seen him well placed to stage a possible upset in the Tuesday vote to the surprise of his competitors who have been forced to the drawing board.

The former MP said that his track record as an educationist rising from a Secondary Teacher to a College Principal before serving as an MP put him at a better position to understand the challenges of Migori residents which has driven his quest to be the Migori Governor.

 “On Governance and Administration, I will ensure zero tolerance to corruption, enhance people’s involvement in decision making and set up a state of the art one stop county headquarters among others for effective and efficient service delivery,” said Pesa.

The Former MP said that his over 30 years’ experience as a Teacher, Administrator and Member of Parliament put him a cut above the rest of the other candidates seeking to be elected as the second Migori Governor in the coming election.

“I also plan to facilitate availability of reliable healthcare delivery to all. majority, promote agribusiness and industrial development in the rich agricultural area to create employment opportunities to the youth,” said Pesa.

Pesa said that Migori is a county with enormous resources and great potential and he is determined to implement a blueprint to resuscitate the Migori county economy with his administration cultivating a business and entrepreneur-friendly environment

His priorities and pledge to the people of Migori will be to lift them out of perennial food security challenges, ensure supply of adequate clean domestic water to the locals and maintenance of an all-weather road network in the County.

“I also plan to facilitate availability of reliable healthcare delivery to all. majority, promote agribusiness and industrial development in the rich agricultural area to create employment opportunities to the youth,” said Pesa.

Education under which I will construct three state-of-the-art TVET institutions, build the County’s Information Resource Centre with a modern state–of–the–art library, Modern Conference Facility, ICT Empowerment Unit for the youth, and Theater Longue to promote youth talents.

On Infrastructure he will Construct and improve at least 100km of tarmac roads in Migori county, while on Information & Communications Technology, I will establish a business and maturation center alongside arts and culture facilities and an ICT center.
