The Untold Story and why he wants to join politics

He holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Masters of Arts degree in Anthropology from UoN

‘Today I am removing my uniform and I will never put on it again, unless under very extra ordinary circumstances, starting today I am not the Regional Commissioner of Rift Valley,’ this were the words of George Natembeya as he officially resigned to concentrate on politics.

“The work you have seen me doing in Rift Valley and my style of administration I learnt from Mr Michuki. He was an early riser and by 6am, we were in the office and left at 9pm. I used to write his speeches, press releases and memos for him,” said Natembeya in his resignation speech.

Natembeya will be vying for the Trans Nzoia gubernatorial seat on the Democratic Alliance Party of Kenya (DAP-K) that is associated with Defense Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa.

Natembeya will be facing Kiminini MP Dr Chris Wamalwa who will be vying for the seat on Ford Kenya ticket.

The two are the top contenders in the race, want to replace outgoing Governor Patrick Khaemba, and will be capitalizing on the political nemesis between Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetang’ula and Wamalwa who are currently not seeing each other eye to eye.

Natembeya started working in 1996 as a District Officer (D.O) for Kilgoris and after 10 years, he became the Personal Assistant of the late no nonsense Cabinet Minister John Michuki between 2005 – 2008.

“The work you have seen me doing in Rift Valley and my style of administration I learnt from Mr Michuki. He was an early riser and by 6am, we were in the office and left at 9pm. I used to write his speeches, press releases and memos for him,” said Natembeya in his resignation speech.

After 2008, he was promoted as District Commissioner in Muranga then later to Kamukunji, Isiolo and then Narok until 2019 when he was made the Rift Valley regional commissioner replacing Mongo Chimwaga who had been moved to the Office of the President at Harambee House.

“When you have been given work to do, there is no need you go to a place where you as a security officer you have joined the locals and start crying with them instead of providing solutions for them. I told myself when i was the county commissioner in Muranga, we can't live in the same house with Mungiki, one of us had to go and I remained,” said Natembeya.

Natembeya credited himself f for ending the reign Mungiki militiamen in Muranga , saying that was only successful for being firm.
