Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala was removed as the Senate Deputy Minority Leader after he handed ODM a heavy defeat in the Matungu by elections, the County Splash has established.

Malala was the lead campaigner for Matungu MP Peter Oscar Nabulindo in the just concluded mini polls where the ODM candidate David Were was handed a heavy defeat by Musalia Mudavadi led party of ANC.

“The agreement that brought Nasa co principals together has been abused by ODM for a long time and come 2022, Mulembe Nation will not work with the party which has been reduced to a tribal outfit. Mulembe Nation will chat its way under Musalia Mudavadi,” said Buchichi.

Malala is being accused of alleged misconduct and mischief in the recently concluded Matungu by-election.

He also accused of allegedly disrespecting some Nasa principles as well his frequent absence in the house to be part of the grounds that led to his ouster.

The meeting is alleged to have been called by Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Jr who is the Minority Whip via a message sent on Tuesday to Nasa members and indicated that it was summoned by the house Minority Leader James Orengo.

A Senate Parliamentary Group meeting held on Wednesday endorsed the removal of Malala as Senate Deputy Minority Leader and replaced him Kilifi Senator Steward Madzayo (ODM).

“As ANC fraternity, we have been perturbed with what happened in the Senate today. This is a clear indication that ODM is a gullible and greedy party that does not have the interests of Kenyans at heart,” said Emmanuel Buchichi, the Kakamega County ANC Youth Leader.

According to Buchichi, the removal of Malala as Deputy Minority Leader is an eye opener that the Mulembe Nation should rally behind its own leaders instead of supporting other communities.

“The agreement that brought Nasa co principals together has been abused by ODM for a long time and come 2022, Mulembe Nation will not work with the party which has been reduced to a tribal outfit. Mulembe Nation will chat its way under Musalia Mudavadi,” said Buchichi.

Buchichi said ODM was afraid that the political career of Malala was rising very fast and they thought be taking away the seat from him will slow him, adding that the Mulembe Nation is behind him as a son of the soil.
