Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala has eaten a humble pie and apologised to Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi for disrespecting him.

This is after the maverick Senator dumped Mudavadi and started dancing to ODM leader Raila Odinga’s tunes.

Over the weekend, Malala differed sharply with Raila over the controversial revenue sharing formula currently in the Senate.

Raila even threatened  to de whip him of his deputy minority seat in the Senate if he does not tore  the line and support the formula that if passed will see ASAL counties losing billions of shillings as compared to what they are currently getting from the exchequer.

Malala while attending a requiem mass of the fallen Church of God Archbishop Dr Byrum Makokha in South B on Tuesday said that he is seeking for forgiveness before embarking on the journey of uniting Luhya youth ahead of the 2022 polls.

“I know I made a mistake to my political father Musalia Mudavadi by hurling unprintable insults to him. I am asking for forgiveness and the only thing I want is blessings from my party leader,” said Malala.

Malala also thanked Mudavadi for standing in solidarity with him two weeks ago when sleuths from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) came to arrest him at his Kitengela home at 3am.

“Nashukuru sana kwa baba yangu wa kisiasa Musalia Mudavadi, regardless of our political differences he made a phone call to me , he made a phone call to our family akasema mimi nimesimama na familia ya Malala hata kama hatuelewani , am praying for your son , am praying for your family member, and I want to thank you for this,” said Malala.

Malala also advised nominated MP Godfrey Osotsi to swallow his pride and follow suit in apologising to Mudavadi too. “I want to hold your hand, don’t be afraid, don’t be embarrassed, gather the confidence that I gathered and I can assure you today that our future is bright.’

The Musalia Mudavadi led party in November last year suspended the senator from the party and summoned him for disciplinary but did not honour the summonses.

He was to answer to charges of working with Raila Odinga’s ODM party. The disciplinary committee also wanted Malala to respond to utterances that were perceived to be insults targeting Mr. Mudavadi.

The ANC national disciplinary committee said they had suspended the senator for donning rival ODM’s cap and drummed up support for the Orange party’s candidate against them during the Kibra parliamentary by-election on October 27, 2019.

“After careful reflection and deliberation, ANC has decided to take necessary disciplinary action against this member (Senator Malala) on grounds that his conduct seriously offends not only ANC party laws but Statute laws as well,” Committee Chair Yare Mohammed said.

Malala dared them to expel him from the party saying he was ready for a by-election and that the party had been hijacked by individuals who are self-centered and yet they don’t have the capacity to run the party.

“It’s evident there is no internal democracy in the party, there are no values as inculcated in the party constitution but what is there is witch-hunt and petty jealous informing decisions held by the party organs,” said Malala on November 16, last year at Gold Hotel.

He was accompanied by Kakamega County ODM deputy chairman, Lucas Radoli, Butali/Chegulo MCA Kevin Mahelo (Jubilee), Shirere MCA David Ikunza (ODM), Esumeiya/Shinoi/Shikomari MCA Boniface Akosi (ODM) and Kakamega County Ford Kenya delegates.
