Over 10 people killed in Kaburengu accident

At least ten people are feared dead after a trailer lost control along Webuye – Malaba highway at Kaburengu junction, a blackspot that has claimed many lives over the years.

The truck that was heading to Malaba lost control, rammed into several 14-seater Matatu, and killed ten people on the spot according to eyewitnesses. At least 14 other people were seriously injured and were rushed to Webuye County hospital for treatment.

The trailer then overturned and landed in a ditch after sweeping through a group of traders especially grocery and vegetables vendors.

“The truck ran over boda boda operators and mama mbogas before hitting two Nissan Matatu’s at Kaburengu junction. It was a horrific accident,” said an eyewitness.

Kakamega County Police Commander, Hassan Barua, confirmed the incident.
