Sorrow engulfed Kaptoboi village in Mt. Elgon Constituency in Bungoma County after Joyce Chemeneret,72, was killed by a mudslide after a heavy downpour.
The deceased husband Isaac Kwaramu escaped death by a whisker and was saved by the neighbours who rushed him to Cheptais Sub-County Hospital and later transferred to Bungoma County Referral Hospital where he is getting treatment.
Robinson Kahi, an eyewitness said that Kaptoboi and Kapsaje villages are the ones affected by the mudslides calling on the government, red cross and well-wishers to intervene.
Kahi said Joyce is the fourth person to die from mudslides.
He said that over 100 people could have lost their life yesterday in the situation while trying to save Isaac Kwaramu who was partially covered by mudslide.
