At least 100 youths have been arrested with fake Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) calling letters.

The innocent unemployed youths were arrested last Sunday at Moi Barracks when they had gone to join the training.

According to police, the youths might have been issued with fake calling letters at a fee from brokers masquerading as KDF recruiters.

“It was reported today Sunday, January 26, that over 100 youths were arrested at Moi Barracks training with fake KDF calling letters. The youths are being held and will be arraigned in court on Monday, January 27,” police said.

There’s no way a civilian can engage in such business. There must be senior officers in service behind such and this matter needs serious investigation and those who issued fake calling letters brought to book,”

However, according to a senior KDF officer who requested his identity withheld for fear of victimization said the youths were given fake calling letters by senior police officers at as much as Ksh 250,000.

“There’s no way a civilian can engage in such business. There must be senior officers in service behind such and this matter needs serious investigation and those who issued fake calling letters brought to book,” he said.

During the recruitment exercise in Rift Valley, two senior police officers were among the trio that were arrested in Endebess Trans-Nzoia with fake calling letters.

“The three were caught red-handed trying to obtain money from unsuspecting parents whose children were taken to KDFs Endebess Sub-County headquarters for the recruitment process,” police said.
